On 30th June 2022 the British government released the annual statistics relating to scientific procedures performed on living animals in accordance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, for the year 2021. The number of procedures that took place in 2021 was 3,056,243. In 2020 the figure was 2,883,310.

We believe one animal used in animal testing is too many. The huge number above is the number of procedures, not the number of animals. It could be the number of animals if every procedure was performed on a new animal. The thought of an animal suffering one or more procedures in heartbreaking.
